Army plans rescue of Britons amid Korean war fear
Senior British military officers have been deployed to South Korea to draw up plans for evacuating around 8,000 British citizens if war breaks out.
The officers, who visited for a fortnight in October and returned this month for 10 days, investigated how UK citizens could be helped to flee before or during an attack by the North Korean regime.
British military sources are growing increasingly concerned that US President Donald Trump could launch pre-emptive strikes to destroy Kim Jong-un’s nuclear ballistic missile programme. Analysts believe such an assault would provoke a fierce counter-attack against South Korea.
